Liberating the Los Gatos Library

Someone (I think it's the assistant director) has been systematically removing all books of a "liberal" nature from the Los Gatos PUBLIC Library. Eastern philosophy/religion, gay and lesbian nonfiction, alternative medicine guides, left-leaning politics, and many women's nonfiction selections that don't fit in with a Christian agenda. I base this angle on a chat that I had with said assistant.

Here is a sampling of a few of the books that I've rescued from the dumpster:
  • Voices of Revolution: The Dissident Press in America - Rodger Streitmatter
  • The Alternative Medicine Sourcebook - Steven Bratman, M.D.
  • Forgiving the Deadman Walking - Debbie Morris
  • Makes Me Wanna Holler: A Black Man in America - Nathan McCall
  • Hurricane: the Miraculous Journey of Rubin Carter - James S. Hirsch
  • Witches and Witch-hunts: A History of Persecution - Milton Meltzer
  • The Exception to the Rulers - Amy Goodman

What are the Christian Right afraid of? Are they so insecure in their beliefs that they fear being influenced by the many choices surrounding them, so they banish the choices? Are they afraid of their own shadow? Freewill? Or are they simply into a major power grab, trying to control everyone elses thoughts and choices?

Kindly keep your religion out of my library.
